COM PLANT TERMS & CONDITIONS
Last updated: 15 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to quotations, bookings, collections, workshop work, on-site work, storage and other services supplied by COM PLANT. They are written primarily for business customers. If you are acting as a consumer, nothing in these terms excludes or limits any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
1. Our services
COM PLANT provides industrial plant, machinery and commercial vehicle services including cleaning, CO2 / dry ice blasting, media blasting, vapor blasting / cleaning, inspection preparation, painting, metal polishing, signage and graphics, service and repair support, sales preparation, collection and storage.
2. Quotations and scope of work
Quotations are based on the information, photographs, videos, machine details and access information supplied by the customer. Unless expressly stated otherwise, quotations are estimates of the work reasonably identifiable at the time. Additional contamination, corrosion, coatings, damage, access restrictions, dismantling, masking, materials, parts, transport or other work not reasonably apparent when quoted may result in additional charges.
Any requested change to the scope of work may affect price, materials and completion time.
3. Rates, materials, VAT and additional charges
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, COM PLANT’s weekday minimum labour charges are £250 plus VAT for a half day and £400 plus VAT for a full day. Weekend labour is charged at 25% above the applicable weekday rate.
Labour rates are exclusive of materials, chemicals, replacement parts, coatings, abrasives, transport and other job-specific consumables unless the quotation expressly states otherwise. A 10% ancillaries charge may be applied for items used in carrying out the work, including masking films, block-out tape, foam tapes, blasting covers, protectors and similar consumables.
All prices are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate, currently 20%, unless expressly stated otherwise.
4. Payments, deposits and credits
Except where a refund is required by law, payments and deposits made to COM PLANT are non-refundable.
If a booking is cancelled or moved more than 7 full days before the booked start date and time, any payment already made will normally be retained as credit against a future COM PLANT order rather than refunded. Credit is non-transferable, has no cash value and should be used within 12 months unless COM PLANT agrees otherwise in writing. Any future work will be charged at the rates applicable when that future booking is made.
If a customer cancels, postpones or is unable to proceed within 7 full days of the booked start date and time, any payment or deposit already made is forfeited and will not be refunded or carried forward as credit, unless COM PLANT agrees otherwise in writing.
A failure to provide the machine, access, safe working area or other agreed requirements on the booked date may be treated as a late cancellation or may result in waiting-time or additional attendance charges.
5. Customer responsibilities for on-site work
Before COM PLANT arrives, the customer must ensure that the relevant plant, machinery or vehicle is available, identifiable and moved into a suitable, safe and accessible working area.
Any delay caused by locating the machine, moving it into position, obtaining access, clearing the work area, site induction delays not previously disclosed, or otherwise making the machine available will be deducted from the booked on-site working time. The booked day or half-day period will not automatically be extended because of customer-caused delays. Additional time may be chargeable.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the working area is suitable for the agreed work and that COM PLANT has safe and lawful access to it.
6. Water, electricity and site facilities
Where reasonably required for the booked service, the customer will provide COM PLANT with suitable access to water and electricity at the site free of charge. Any unusual power, water, drainage, containment, access or site-specific requirements must be disclosed before the booking.
7. Storage
Storage is charged per machine according to machine size, space occupied and any special handling or access requirements. The minimum storage charge is £30 plus VAT per machine per calendar day.
Larger machines, vehicles, attachments or items requiring additional yard space or handling may be charged at a higher daily rate, which will be advised where practicable.
Storage charges normally run from the day the machine or item arrives at the COM PLANT yard until the day it is collected or removed, including weekends and bank holidays unless otherwise agreed in writing.
8. Collection, delivery and transport
Where COM PLANT arranges collection or transport, the customer must provide accurate dimensions, weights, loading information and access details. The customer must tell COM PLANT in advance if machinery is non-running, immobilised, unsafe to move or requires specialist loading equipment.
Additional transport, waiting, failed collection, loading or access costs caused by inaccurate or incomplete customer information may be charged to the customer.
9. Condition of machinery and results
Cleaning, blasting, polishing, preparation and refinishing can reveal pre-existing corrosion, cracking, previous repairs, weak coatings, damage or other defects that were not visible beforehand. COM PLANT is not responsible for pre-existing defects or deterioration that becomes apparent as a result of properly carrying out the agreed work.
Results can vary according to age, substrate, corrosion, coating history, previous repairs and condition. Where an exact cosmetic finish or colour match is important, this should be agreed in writing before work starts.
10. Customer-supplied information and approvals
The customer is responsible for the accuracy of machine details, site information, artwork, logos, colours, specifications, instructions and approvals supplied to COM PLANT. Work carried out in accordance with customer-approved instructions, artwork or specifications will be treated as authorised.
11. Completion times
Any completion date or duration is an estimate unless expressly agreed in writing as fixed. Work may be affected by machine condition, weather, curing times, parts and materials availability, access, transport and additional work discovered after commencement.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to those rights and exclusions, COM PLANT will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of use, loss of hire revenue or business interruption arising from delay or from circumstances outside COM PLANT’s reasonable control.
13. Events outside our control
COM PLANT will not be liable for delay or failure caused by events outside its reasonable control, including severe weather, site restrictions, breakdowns, transport disruption, utility failure, supplier delays, shortages or other circumstances that could not reasonably have been avoided.
14. Privacy and cookies
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Information about cookies and similar technologies is available in our Cookie Policy.
15. Governing law
These terms and any dispute or claim arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply to the customer.
